3 Studies We Read This Week That Changed The Way We Think About Inflammation
- by Teresa Pessina

If you've followed eyeam for a while, you'll know all our products aim to treat chronic inflammation.
Not because inflammation is the enemy.
Quite the opposite.
Inflammation is one of the most intelligent things your body can do. Without it, you wouldn't heal, recover from illness or repair damaged tissue.
The problem begins when inflammation lingers longer than it's needed.
That's when it can start influencing everything from your skin and hormones to your brain, gut and how you age.
This week, we read three fascinating studies that reminded us why inflammation sits at the centre of almost everything we do at eyeam.
Here's what we learned.

One of our favourite studies this week came from researchers at University College London.
They discovered that our bodies naturally produce molecules called epoxy-oxylipins, which help tell the immune system when it's time to stop the inflammatory response. Researchers described them as a natural "brake" for inflammation.¹
That completely changed the way we think about healing.
Instead of constantly asking,
"How do we fight inflammation?"
Maybe the better question is,
"How do we help our bodies do what they already know how to do?"
Rather than trying to overpower the body, we want to support it.
That's why so many of our formulas and protocols focus on creating the right environment for your body to thrive.
Prioritising sleep.
Managing stress.
Protecting your skin from daily UV exposure.
Eating antioxidant-rich, polyphenol-packed foods.
Supporting your nervous system.
It's also why we created Magnesium Glymphatic Sleepy Butter. Sleep is when your body carries out many of its most important repair processes, including clearing waste through the brain's glymphatic system which happens during NONREM deep sleep. Magnesium helps you stay in a deep sleep for longer, supporting that brain detox you need. Supporting better sleep is one of the simplest investments you can make in your long-term health.

One of the biggest themes we noticed this week was how often the word inflammaging appeared.
If you've been part of the eyeam community for a while, you'll know this isn't a new concept for us.
Inflammaging describes the low-grade inflammation that develops over time and is increasingly recognised as one of the biological processes associated with ageing.²³
Healthy ageing isn't just about keeping collagen.
It's about supporting the systems that influence how your body functions over decades.
This is exactly why we formulated Inflammaging Skin Solution that specifically targets Inflammation + ageing.
We wanted to create something that looked beyond surface-level skincare and focused on supporting skin exposed to one of the biological processes linked with healthy ageing.
It's also why SPF NOTOX became such an important product for us.
Daily UV exposure is one of the biggest external contributors to premature skin ageing.
That's why we combined mineral UV protection with antioxidant-rich ingredients like saffron peptides, high-polyphenol olive oil, pomegranate and sea buckthorn.
Because longevity isn't built by one miracle ingredient. It's built by protecting your biology every single day.
And you’re probably wondering why we chose SPF 20 for ageing… we broke down the truth about SPF numbers here.

The third paper explored something called trained immunity.
Researchers are discovering that parts of our immune system can actually remember previous inflammatory experiences.
Over time, repeated stressors may re-programme immune cells in ways that contribute to the chronic inflammation we associate with ageing.³
We found that fascinating. Because it reinforces something we say all the time.
Your body is always listening and adapting.
The question is...What are you teaching it every day?
This is why we don't believe there is one magic supplement, one miracle skincare product or one perfect workout.
It's the small habits you repeat every day that matter most.
Getting outside in the morning.
Moving your body.
Prioritising sleep.
Eating your nutrients.
Supporting your response to stress.
5 food-derived nutrients that can support trained immunity (through immune cell function + inflammation balance):
For us, No Stress Drops are part of that daily ritual. Chronic stress doesn't just affect how we feel. It can influence inflammation, sleep quality, recovery and healthy ageing. Supporting your stress resilience is one of the most underrated longevity habits there is.

These studies didn't change our direction.
They reinforced it.
At eyeam, we've always believed skincare starts long before skincare.
It starts with your nervous system.
Your sleep.
Your nutrition.
Your daily habits.
Your relationship with stress.
Then we create products that fit into that bigger picture.
Because longevity isn't built by one big decision.
It's built by hundreds of small ones.
And those small decisions become the future version of you.
